Preparing for your cake smash

 

Set-up

Your cake smash will typically be on a backdrop with either pink, green or blue balloons.  Feel free to bring your own decorations, banners and balloons if you like but please let me know in advance. 

I also offer a paint splash which is ideal from your child's 3rd birthday. This involves them painting a canvas, and themselves if they wish, we do love a bit of mess. They then get to take the canvas home with them to hang on the wall.

Portrait
Please bring a dressy outfit for baby if you wish for the portrait part of the session, this will take place at the start of the session, this is also the time I will include any parent or sibling shots if required.

The cake
You provide the cake yourself for the session, I have seen lots of different types, supermarkets stock a large selection for low prices, please let me know if you would like to take any leftover cake home with you when you leave.

The Session
On the day of the session please try and have baby fed and rested before the session, very hungry or tired babies will not be happy sat posing, please bring a drink for baby as very sweet cakes can make them thirsty, also sometimes a savory snack can help if they get cranky.

The Bath
I have bubble baths for normal and very sensitive skins however feel free to bring your own if you prefer and please bring a towel.

Parents
Babies sometimes get upset or want cuddles, if they are covered in cake (which they usually are) then you will also get covered in cake, please don't wear your best clothes.

How Will The Session Go
One thing I have learnt is not all babies like smashing cakes, some wont even go near it, some hate the feel of it on their hands, others love it, I can never tell how your baby will be, I always advise parents to come with an open mind and remember I won't force baby to do anything, my sessions are very go-with-the-flow I will always do my best to get some amazing shots for you regardless. The session will last approximately 45 minutes.

I aim to have the photos to you within 2-3 weeks however it is sometimes even quicker than that, it depends on my workload at the time. You will be provided with a link to a password protected online gallery where you can view all of your images, you can then select 3 that you like and I will email you the high resolution images for you to download. You also have the option to buy more images/prints and canvases from my website. On average 15 - 20 images will be provided.

I will only publish your photos on social media if you agree to it.

The shoot is £100 which can be paid by cash or card on the day and includes 3 digital images
